Tomorrow, May 14th, we begin a really fun project for the RDN. We will be helping to reclaim Blue Water Community Park in Parksville, which has become a little overgrown with weeds and blackberries, JUST the things that we love to chow down on. The residents are anticipating our arrival and have put protective covers around the small trees that they had recently planted. If you have a chance come by and see what we are up to; we will be there for up to two weeks.
Residents want Bluewater Park to be green
We are once again pleased to be a part of Esquimalt’s Earth Day celebration at Highrock Park on Wednesday, April 25.
Many local schools attend, and the goats are happy to devour the invasive plants that the students pull and bring to them. If you are in the area, please come by and say Hi! It sounds like the weather will cooperate and there are many exhibits and activities.
We will be attending the Earth Day Celebration at John Barsby School in Nanaimo, and our job is to prepare an area along the Chase River for rehabilitation. We are tackling a large patch of Himalayan Blackberry. Please drop by and say Hi and plan to attend this worthwhile festival.
We were asked by a wonderful couple in Nanaimo if we could help to tidy up their garden, which had been overtaken by thistles, blackberries and assorted weeds. We said “bring it on”.
