We recently worked on a residential job in Parksville, clearing a slope in a backyard of blackberries up to 2m. in height, along with some assorted weeds including horsetail and crown vetch. The crew had a great time climbing around on the hill, and revealed some stonework which had been covered with blackberry plants. The customer was happy with the results and has plans to put a terraced garden on the site.
Well, we just got back from a great visit to Esquimalt, near Victoria, to help the Parks Department celebrate Earth Day by tackling invasive plants. We were on site in Highrock Park, one of the many beautiful parks in the Township, and students from neighbouring schools came and helped pull blackberries, english ivy and some other invasives. One of the days we helped in a fenced area, and the other in a pen where kids were invited to feed some ivy to the goats through the fence. It was so much fun to see the happy faces on the students and also the adults that came to help. Many thanks to Rick and his awesome staff for making us feel welcome! Hope we can return soon.
